At WaypointCommons, we recognize that plans can change, and we are committed to offering equitable and clear refund conditions. This document specifies the situations in which refunds are available for our yacht charter services.
Before you reserve a charter, it is important to familiarize yourself with this policy. By confirming a charter with WaypointCommons, you are accepting these terms for refunds.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Complete reimbursement excluding service charges
Processing Duration: 5-7 business days
Service Charge: €50 for credit card payments
Requirements: Needs to be requested through written communication by email or telephone
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Half of the total cost of the charter
Processing Duration: 7-10 business days
Service Charge: €25 deducted from the reimbursement amount
Requirements: A valid reason is required; administrative costs are incurred
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Refund is not available
Exception: Consideration for emergency cases
Option: Credit for future charters might be provided at the discretion of the management
Requirements: Proof must be provided for emergency claims
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Your safety is our utmost concern. If our certified captain determines the weather conditions to be too dangerous for sailing, we will offer you the following options:
- Full Refund: Offered if it is not possible to schedule the charter for another date
- Reschedule: You may move your charter to another available date free of extra charge
- Charter Credit: A credit note will be provided, valid for one year from the date of the original charter
Weather Evaluation Procedure
We take the following factors into account when assessing weather conditions:
- Evaluation of wind speed and direction
- Wave height and ocean conditions
- Visibility and precipitation outlooks
- Advisories and warnings issued by the Coast Guard
- Safety evaluation by a professional captain
Decision Timeframe: Decisions on whether to cancel due to weather are made at least 4 hours before the planned departure time.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Emergency Conditions
We are sympathetic to the fact that medical emergencies can arise unexpectedly. Under the following scenarios, you may be given special consideration:
- An illness or accident that necessitates hospitalization
- Passing of a family member
- Mandatory military service or sudden deployment
- Jury duty or legal summons
- Natural disasters that disrupt travel plans
Proof Required
For us to consider a refund due to emergencies, please give us the following documents:
- A medical statement or proof of hospitalization
- A death certificate, where relevant
- Official military commands
- A notice of a court hearing or jury summons
- Travel warnings or declarations of emergency
Procedure: Upon receiving the appropriate documents, emergency refunds are processed in 3-5 business days.
Operational Cancellations
Technical Difficulties
Should the yacht chosen for your charter encounter a mechanical issue that we cannot fix promptly:
- Substitute Vessel: We will endeavor to offer an equivalent alternative
- Complete Refund: Provided if there is no acceptable alternative yacht
- Partial Reimbursement: If the alternative vessel has a different pricing structure
- Compensation: Additional recompense may be considered to make up for the inconvenience
Crew Unavailability
On rare occasions, should an authorized crew not be available:
- We will make efforts to arrange an alternative crew
- Full refund if the charter cannot proceed
- Possibility to reschedule without any additional charges
Refund Processing
Method of Reimbursement
Your refund will be returned through the same payment method initially used:
- Credit Cards: 5-7 business days
- Wire Transactions: 7-10 business days
- Cash/Check: 3-5 business days
Service Charges
Card Payment Fee
€50 fee for cancellations more than 72 hours before the charter
Bank Transaction Fee
€25 fee for all wire transaction reimbursements
International Transactions
Additional fees may be incurred for cross-border payments
Charter Credits
Eligibility for Credits
Credits for future charters may be granted under certain conditions as an alternate option to refunds:
- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice
- Cancellations due to weather
- Voluntary changes to the charter date
- Operational disruptions
Credit Guidelines
- Validity Period: One year from the date of issuance
- Non-Transferrable: Cannot be passed onto other individuals
- Amount: Equivalent to the value of the full charter with no deduction for service charges
- Usage: Applicable to any future available charter
- Expiry: Credits must be used within 12 months and cannot be extended
Partial Service Refunds
Interruptions During Service
If the service of your charter is disrupted or shortened because of factors we control:
- Reimbursement calculated on the basis of the time not used
- Credit matching the charter value for later use
- Complimentary services or upgrades may be offered
Issues Caused by Guests
If we must terminate a charter prematurely due to the conduct of guests or infractions of safety rules:
- No return of funds for the unused period
- Total charge for the charter remains payable
- Additional costs may be levied
Dispute Resolution
If you take issue with a decision on a refund, you are entitled to:
- Request a further scrutiny by our management personnel
- Submit extra documentation or proof
- Appeal to consumer rights organizations
- Exercise your legal rights as per the prevailing laws

Step 2: Submit Your Details
Ensure the following details are included in your refund request:
- Confirmation number of your booking
- Date and time of the yacht charter
- Explanation for the cancellation
- Any relevant documentary evidence (if needed)
- Your preferred method for refund
Step 3: Evaluation and Processing
We will acknowledge your refund claim within a day, evaluate it against our policy, give our verdict within two days, and issue approved refunds in the outlined timespan.
Important Points to Note
- All applications for refunds ought to be recorded in a written format
- Refunds will be issued in €, regardless of the currency used for the original transaction
- Acquiring travel insurance is highly recommended
- This refund policy is subject to adjustments or modifications with an advance notice of 30 days
- Refunds will adhere to the applicable tax laws and regulations
